This article in the Guardian was sent to me. As a long term sufferer myself I found it interesting but not too surprising. I won’t dwell on the “business” aspects of the article but from a counselling point of view the interesting bit starts around the 6th paragraph from the end.As a sufferer I was interested to see the last image of the exercise, “The bird dog”. Purely from my own investigations on Youtube and then incorporating it into my own routine I would say this particular exercise has helped me hugely in my pain management.
The more counselling/CBT part of the equation is accepting a degree of pain and not letting it shut me down. This can be a tricky balancing act, listening to the body and knowing when it’s right to rest but not engaging with the body’s lazy voice.
